Megavind – A Strategic Partnership for Wind Energy
The Megavind Partnership´s vision is to maintain and develop Danish position as wind energy hub and home to the world´s leading companies and research institutes. Megavind´s objective is to identify and develop necessary sector strategies for the full chain from basic and applied research, development, testing and demonstration.
Megavind (2013-2015) is a continuation and further development of Megavind – A Strategic Partnership for Wind Energy which has produced sector strategies and recommendations since its foundation in 2006.
Megavind will support a continuation and consolidation of the stronghold of the Danish wind industry through a focused and strategic sector approach to research, development, test and validation, demonstration, and education.
The partnership works with the intent:
- To be the strategy platform of the sector that secures interaction between research institutions and industry by joint strategy formulation – in close cooperation with public authorities.
- To support implementation of strategies in selected projects of significant strategic importance.
In the next phase, Megavind will develop strategies and recommendations on:
- Universities´ necessary competencies and research and development efforts in the field of wind energy.
- Energy supply and the value of wind energy in energy systems with a high ration of wind energy.
. A revised offshore strategy and benchmark analysis in order to evaluate and deliver on the 50 % Cost of Energy reduction target to be met in 2020.
- Technology solution for externalities.
- A revised strategy on test and demonstration.
- Wind turbines´ life span and life cycle.
Megavind is the strategic research partnership for the entire Danish wind industry. Megavind is where the industry and academia meet and work together to chart a course for wind energy research, development, testing and demonstration.
Megavind (2013-2016) is a continuation and further development of Megavind – A Stra-tegic Partnership for Wind Energy, which has produced sector strategies and recom-mendations since its foundation in 2006.
The Danish wind industry is still among the leaders on the world market for wind energy and Megavind has supported the continuation and consolidation of the stronghold of the Danish wind industry through a focused and strategic sector approach to research, de-velopment, test & validation, demonstration and education.
Megavind’s vision is for Denmark to maintain and further develop its position as the hub of the world’s leading companies and research institutions within the field of wind ener-gy and that these companies will be the first to deliver competitive wind energy on market terms (without subsidies) in the dominating wind energy markets.
Megavind’s objective is to continue to be the national platform on which the industry and research institutions develop strategies and recommendations for research, devel-opment, test and validation, demonstration and education within the field of wind ener-gy technology.
Megavind is supported by all major stakeholders in the Danish wind industry through representatives from the leading Danish wind turbine manufacturers, energy compa-nies, universities and companies that provide components and tests to the industry.
